Language for Living

All Language for Living courses are designed to improve the fluency and confidence of those who already have some competence in the chosen language. One day courses in the UK will be designated as either intermediate or advanced. The one week courses in the target language country are open to improver, intermediate and advanced students.

The course fees for events taking place outside the UK will include accommodation in a good quality hotel, breakfast and an evening meal. Travel costs are not included and attendees will need to arrange their own travel to the event location.

We welcome anyone with some grasp of the French language. Check whether you will be able to cope with the teaching by taking a simple attainment test to be found here: Attainment Test

One Day and Half Day Courses

One day and half day courses are held at venues (usually hotels) in the UK for groups of 8-10 people. The main aim of the session is to encourage attendees to develop their language production skills, ie to get you talking!

We realise that this is fairly intense and there will therefore be frequent breaks during which tea/coffee will be available. Refreshments are included in the course fee.

Course content will consist principally of work in groups to encourage the use of spoken language or of discussion exercises involving all attendees. Stimulus material such as short videos or written materials will be used as a basis of the exercises.

One Week Courses

One week courses are held in the target language country.

Accommodation in good quality hotels, together with breakfast and evening meal, are included in the course fees. Travel to the course venue is not included in the course fee.

Each day will consist of classroom based teaching in the morning for around 3 hours, with excursions to sites of interest in the afternoons. Group work and group discussion in the morning will involve preparation for the planned afternoon visits as well as other language development exercises. Excursions will involve contact with native speakers and are intended to promote conversation and use of language.

Attendees are encouraged to use only the target language wherever possible for the duration of the event.
